those eyes | Sydney Lifestyle Photographer

I spend every Friday with this boy, he knows Fridays are special and insists on wearing his ‘handsome clothes’. This hat comes under that category, the best $5 I ever spent :)

I had wanted to shoot at this spot for the longest time, and it wasn’t hard to convince him to be my subject, not camera shy at all! Love those eyes!

Rebecca - What great shots! His eyes are amazing! You nailed it! Well done! :-)

Lets take a wee trip down memory lane, do you remember this gorgeous session? Well that mumma had her bubba, a little boy and they named him Asher. Proud big sister Keira is just like a little mum to him, rushing off to get the camera to capture the moments, cuddling, kissing and reassuring him as well as giving him his dummy when he cried, I am sure she has been practicing on her dolls. It was all too cute!

Congratulations to Fiona, Craig and Keira on the newest member of your clan. (Fiona wants 8 kids, you may be seeing her again soon :) haha)

Any Sydney resident or really anyone who has crossed the Sydney Harbor Bridge, will have seen the below building, infamous Blues Point Tower. For many years I have looked at it and wondered what it was like inside, was it as umm.. unattractive as the outside, with no balconies and seemingly tiny windows. When Anouk’s mummy told me their address, I was excited.. then.. not so excited, worrying about the amount of light that would be coming in. I needn’t have worried, with big windows and all rooms almost covered in mirrors, I was blessed with a beautiful apartment filled with lovely light and one amazing view!

Not to forget my gorgeous subject, this little munchkin arrived 11 days early, and by all the yawning she did, I think she still wanted to be in her mummy’s tummy curled up asleep. Never have I had such a yawner :) too cute! She reminds me of a little lion in some of the images. ROARRRR!

One of my favorite images, dad watching over his two girls, caught him in one of the mirrors! ;)

coco + pickles | Sydney Pet Photographer

This past month I have been house, dog and rat sitting! All three have their pros and cons. The house is gorgeous, there is a pool and a lock up garage my car lives in, those are the little things that I appreciate :)

The dog.. Coco is CRAZY! she wee’s if you speak to her when you first arrive home (excited), or if James speaks to her….. EVER (too excited)! this resulted in a number of outfit changes over the weeks. Not to mention her love of my underpants, socks and bra’s taking any chance possible to pinch them. Just this morning I walked into the yard to find a pair of my undies laying there, cheeky thing! I am down a pair of shoes that she enjoyed chewing up while I was out one day. My fault for leaving them out :)

The rat.. Pickles is very cute, LOVES a scratch behind the ear and getting out of her cage to tear up newspaper is the highlight of her day. She bit me, scratched me and even forgot to tell me to close her cage one night (yep I am blaming her haha) I woke in the morning and remembered, RAN downstairs to check she was still there all while having visions of having to run out and buy a new rat to try and fool the kids (wouldn’t work I know) but there she was, sitting on top of her cage. just chilling out! Cleaning out her cage each week… not so fun!

Today I decided to do a little shoot with them. Coco loves to jump up to where Pickles cage is, where Pickles then snuggles and occasionally nibbles at Coco. So I was not sure how they would go both being on the ground together, but I was optimistic, and it paid off.. Coco just lay still will Pickles explored, cuddled, nibbled, cleaned and cuddled some more.

Then is was bath time for Coco, for a mostly crazy dog, she has such peaceful moments.. I often wonder what she is thinking as she stares out the window waiting for her family to come home or when she sits, head rested on the edge of the couch waiting for me to share my food, or when I bath her… and make her dress in the towel.. yeah I wonder what she was thinking LOL.

Below are two unexpected best friends..

Stepping into a clients home for the first time you never know what to expect, you hope for the right little nook to create beautiful work within, maybe a blank wall or a funky chair… but above all else, you hope for big windows letting in gorgeous light… well, this home had it all! I was in love with it the moment I walked in, the bed, the chair the children’s rooms, I actually photographed their rooms without them there, they are so beautifully decorated.

Enough about this mumma’s amazing style, (drool below). Being able to capture a family, a child or a newborn, just as they are is such a wonderful experience, you let their personalities shine though and embrace the crazy.. and when Victoria sent me an email to express her gratitude for the images I was able to capture, I was reminded of why I do what I do the WAY I do it. She wrote:

“What can I say? My images have totally taken my breath away. They are superb. They capture my family perfectly – the chaos, the craziness, the love – they are truly us and in my mind perfect. I feel so lucky to have these Elise, I can’t thank you enough for your beautiful work.”

That kind of response to something that also holds a piece of myself is so heart warming. <3
