As a kids fashion photographer the trickier but equally fun part of this profession can also be in being a baby fashion photographer! Wriggly little people who take no direction and frankly have no care for what they’ve been decked out in – cool or not – are definitely not the easiest subjects.
Thank goodness for me when I was shooting these mid-season images for uber cool label Anarkid in December last year my models were not only gorgeous but turned it right on with only mild coaxing and promises of post-shoot sultanas! (Thank you Alfie & Ava! Big squishy baby kisses to you!)
These images have a fresh, modern feel and allow the clothes to be the hero, exactly what you want as a baby fashion photographer. The minimalist Christmas tree was added to allow Anarkid to have a spirited, fun image for the festive season but the prop was chosen to be aligned with their aesthetic and enhance the overall image.
If you haven’t explored Anarkid here’s what you need to know! Anarkid is an Australian label based in Melbourne. There are many things I specifically love about their clothes. Firstly they are really graphic – the owner and designer Kelli is incredible in her use of colours and prints. I love unexpected textiles for children and Anarkid really delivers.
Design-appeal aside, as a Mum Kelli knows what clothes actually need to be practical – gorgeous organic cottons, easy to wear shapes, strong snaps on onesies etc, her clothes have ‘real mum’ insights.
