Nothing says your clients adore your work more than repeat bookings! And there’s nothing I love more than watching these Le CoCo Portraits children grow up in front of my eyes. I do call them my ‘kids’ and as a Sydney family photographer I feel such strong connection to the families that trust me again and again to be with their precious little people and capture the different stages of their lives.

Meet Anouk and her Mum and Dad. Anouk is more than one of my ‘kids’ and this is the third time I was lucky enough to photograph them – this time all the way from Switzerland. I previously had shot Anouk’s newborn session and also a Sydney family photography session that was celebrating this expat family’s life as they traveled from the USA. On that occasion we rode the Manly Ferry and ate ice creams on the beach so when I heard from Anouk’s Mum for a third shoot I was not only both honoured and delighted but excited to know they’d be up for something fun!

The twist to this tale is that Anouk and her parents now live in Switzerland so this session was to mark another visit back to Australia and had to capture all they love and miss about their Sydney lives. When Anouk was newly born her Mum used to stroll with the pram around Lavender Bay so we took this opportunity to embrace nostalgia and take a walk down memory lane. Of course the obvious thing to do with a small, energy filled child when you’re hanging around the lower north shore and you are a Sydney family photographer is to go to Luna Park! The idea was born; a Ferris wheel at sunset shoot was the answer!

We met on a Thursday afternoon for this Sydney family portrait session and this is where the second twist to this tale occurs! We enjoyed the streets of Lavender Bay and headed to Luna Park only to find out it was closing early! Oh no! We had no doubt already achieved a beautiful series of family images but with a disappointed little girl on my hands and a family I’d promised a Ferris wheel ride to we decided to lock in for a second day and come back.

The following Saturday saw us all at Luna Park and boy did we make the most of it! Anouk’s sheer joy at the whole experience was more than enough to make me know we’d made the right decision. We ate sticky fairy floss, rode the carousel, enjoyed the grounds and spent an afternoon laughing, goofing around and having quality family fun in this iconic Australian location. As the sun set we headed to the Ferris wheel and all Anouk’s four year old dreams came true!

I genuinely feel so fortunate to have such special clients who are invested in me as I am in them. I love watching little people grow and feel delighted to capture this time for them and for their parents – no matter where they are in the world! Thanks to Anouk and her Mum and Dad for a special day I’ll always remember. I am so glad that we re-visited Luna Park, not only as I want my clients to love-love-love me and always feel I over deliver but because the happiness is so tangible in these images you just want to be there yourself…enjoy!
