To me this shoot was a little bit important, you see the dad is the brother of a fellow photographer who is currently busy traipsing around the UK and Europe with her family (tough life for some!), so to be blessed with the job of taking her place for this special time in their lives was very exciting and special to me. I hope I did you proud Aunty Angie

The boys took a bit of time to warm up to me, not being used to a stranger taking their photos, but after they came around there was no stopping the endless kisses (Ethan) and rumbles (oh also Ethan!), and sometimes kisses ending in rumbles. Too much fun and too darn cute.

When they arrived and I asked Sam his name he told me it was Samuel I asked if I could call him Sam or would he prefer Samuel, he replied saying to call him “Samuel Hopkins” haha, needless to say I went with Sam.

I wish them all the best for a safe and speedy (but not too speedy) arrival of their precious little girl. I can’t wait to meet her

How cute is he in his little volly’s – dad said “look at him, he looks like a little person when he wears shoes”, lol indeed he does! Also I love how the one photo where mum & dad are making fun of Jacob always poking his tongue out… he’s not! haha

side note: Sam is a fireman, yep.. a real life ‘Fireman Sam’ haha (sorry Sam!)

From the details, food and location to the glorious weather, the day was near perfection, I say near because what’s a wedding without a little drama? Mid ceremony the energetic ring bearer, Chase, decided that the wedding rings were no longer needed and tossed them over the back fence! The bride and groom laughed it off and before long the rings were back and the ceremony continued. I story for his 21st perhaps?

I posted on my facebook page that I was off to photograph my first no-name baby, I had a flurry of responses from people saying either them or their children were nameless for a number of days to a number of weeks. As someone who may or may not ( ) already have baby names chosen, I find this so amazing.

So here we are, here is Sophie with her big sister Mia and their proud mum and dad. How gorgeous is Sophie’s full head of dark hair, so much different to Mia when she was this age.

I photographed this family last year however was unable to share their shoot for the fact the photos were for a birthday gift. That has been and gone so I can now show off this mini session.

I have know this family for a while, I have slept in their beds…….  I was house sitting! I don’t make a habit of sleeping in other peoples beds haha. I blogged about that experience too if you want to know. So back to the story, I have known them for a while, however I had NO IDEA just how much fun they are as a family, how close they are, how silly they are. I may have mentioned this to a mutual friend who beamed “oh yes! that is totally them!” haha.

From the get-go Ben and Angie were on my page, I told them what I had in mind, they shared their ideas too and our brainstorming/storyboarding session was almost as much fun as the shoot itself.

A huge thank you goes out to Andrew and Donna, who trekked across Sydney to allow their beautiful girls Sarah and Elizabeth to be part of the fun, the stars if you will! and I think many of you will recognise a certain monkey that makes a cameo appearance also!

Aaah pregnancy. Such a beautiful time. Nine long months rubbing your belly and dreaming what your little bundle of joy will be like. Planning a baby room, choosing a name, making a birth plan… or not!
Meet Georgia and Matt. A couple who’s pride and joy, adorable baby Quinn came as quite the surprise.

And that’s where this story begins.

Mid 2012 Georgia and Matt decided it was time for an adventure. They rented out their home and planned a dream holiday – a time they’d enjoy leisurely immersing themselves in all that Europe had to offer.  It was just prior to embarking on their travels that Georgia discovered she was – surprise – pregnant! 26 weeks pregnant in fact. What a shock! A baby was to be welcomed – and soon! There had been no signs, no vomiting, or swollen ankles, midnight ice cream dashes or even a belly to be seen. In a daze travel plans instead became family plans as the pair began to adjust to the idea that their ‘two’ was soon to become ‘three’.

Ten weeks later, Georgia finished up at work and began her maternity leave. Four long weeks that she planned to spend catching up on all the missed stomach rubbing, strange-food-eating and nursery planning she’d missed out on!

What’s that saying about ‘best laid plans?’ In the early hours of her first night of maternity leave Georgia went into early labour. Four hours later, after only two and a bit months of being knowingly pregnant Georgia and Matt were parents!

And here she is. The little lady with her own agenda, Baby Quinn. Perfect in every way and already the apple of her Mum and Dad’s eye. And for a couple that only had ten short weeks to prepare themselves for a baby, these guys are naturals. Like ducks to water Georgia and Matt have adapted to a new life fulfilling the most important job in the world –  being Mum and Dad.

So, yep. Life. We plan it, we schedule it and then sometimes we just have to throw caution to the wind and roll with what’s to come. And look what a miracle a little destiny can bring.

Welcome little Quinn. I think we’ve a whole life of surprises ahead with you bubby.
